The Volatile Gigginox is a subspecies of Gigginox with orange, explosive spit that lives in warmer caves rather than the cold Tundra. Generally a more uncommon monster, it is unknown how many have reached adulthood due to the fact that the eggs they lay release abnormal Giggis that tend to explode. The Volatile Gigginox makes its first appearance in Monster Hunter: Wyvern Instincts.

Physiology(?)[]
This subspecies of Gigginox is slightly smaller than the original, helping it fit into the tighter gem caverns. Its body is a light green with a dark grey underbelly. The glowing spots on the body are also an orange color instead of purple. When enraged, instead of the whole body changing color, the Volatile Gigginox gains red markings on various parts of its body.

- The eggs that it lays release giggis that explode when weakened
- When low on stamina, it'll constantly leave explosive spit puddles behind, but it'll fail to fire its spit at the hunter
- if the hunter is too close to its mouth if it tries to spit, the hunter will still get blastblight
