Physiology[]

Tautogoth is a massive species of Bypaldian, which resembles a minotaur and stands more than six times taller than a hunter on average. Resembling a minotaur in appearance means it has two large bull-like horns. It has large arms and legs which are very muscular. It has a very small almost vestigial tail. Its body and tail are a rusty red in color and its horns are a dark grey. Its eyes are a fiery orange. It has structures of what seems like obsidian on several parts of its body. On its legs it has them going up towards its shins. On its arms it has large braces of them, from which it can release its special powder, and it also has them on its shoulders like shoulder-pads. It has a boulder-like "backpack" of the obsidian-like material on its back.

Behavior[]

Tautogoth are massive and extremely aggressive Bypaldians which will attack almost anything they get in their sights. They'll fight with incredible physical power and their powder which causes Blastblight.

Cutscene[]

Hunt Cutscene[]

  • Location: Volcanic Hollow
  • Synopsis: As the hunter walks into Area 3 of the Volcanic Hollow, they notice too special except the absence of smaller monsters. Suddenly a large rock flies towards the hunter which they can barely dodge. When they turn in the direction of where the rock came from, they see the Tautogoth they have to take down, charging towards them. As it runs past them it turns around and tries slamming its arms on the hunter multiple times. This causes it to release the explosive powder from its braces which almost explodes on the hunter, but they just barely manage to dodge out of the way. The hunter looks towards the Tautogoth which stomps on the ground and roars, starting the hunt.

Ecology Cutscene[]

  • Location: Volcano (2nd)
  • Synopsis: The cutscene begins by showing Area 6 of the Volcano with not much going on besides a few Uroktors going about. Suddenly, the ground starts shaking and Uroktors look towards the entrance from Area 5. The camera turns in that direction, showing a Tautogoth entering the area. The Uroktors immediately go into the ground. The Tautogoth walks towards an explosive rock and lowers itself nearer to the rock. It spits out some of its weird spit onto the rock which not only starts breaking the rock apart into the powder, but also makes sure it doesn't immediately explode. As it has entirely broken apart into small powder, the Tautogoth grabs the powder and puts it in one of the braces on its arms. It then goes onto the next rock and repeats the process again, now filling up the second brace. The Tautogoth now walks away out of the area as the Uroktors come out of the ground again, looking as the Tautogoth goes; ending the cutscene.

Abilities[]

Tautogoth are massive Bypaldians which grants them incredible physical power. This is shown by the fact they can rip out large rocks out of the ground and throw it towards enemies. It can also charge at impressive speeds towards enemies. The obsidian-like structures on its body are heated thanks to constant exposure to heat, thus they can cause Fireblight. Tautogoth's main ability is its special powder that it keeps in its obsidian-like braces. This powder gets released whenever it slams its arm down. The powder will then start glowing more and more until it explodes.

Rage and Tired States[]

  • Rage State: When Tautogoth becomes enraged its obsidian-like structures will start glowing. Its powder will now start exploding faster. It will also start using its weakening spit more.
  • Tired State: When Tautogoth becomes tired it will start drooling and will fall over after some attacks.

Frenzy, Apex and Hyper[]

Tautogoth can get affected by the Frenzy Virus and become Frenzied. Apex Tautogoth have also been found to exist. Hyper Tautogoth have also been discovered.

Tautogoth's power is often compared to the likes of Rajang or Deviljho. Frenzied Tautogoth is thus also compared to Frenzied Rajang or Deviljho, meaning it has immense power. Frenzied Tautogoth have the usual changes of a Frenzied monster.

Hyper Tautogoth are even more powerful than Frenzied Tautogoth, having the usual changes of a Hyper monster.

Apex Tautogoth are immensely powerful, easily capable of causing destruction equal to the likes of Elder Dragons. They have the usual changes of an Apex monster.

Mounts[]

Tautogoth is mounted on its back, ontop of the obsidian-like boulder. The hunter will be stabbing it in its neck as the Tautogoth tries to grab the hunter to throw them off. If the hunter fails the mount, the Tautogoth will grab the hunter and slam them into the ground and then throw them away.

Ecology[]

Taxonomy[]

  • Order: Therapsida
  • Superfamily: Goth
  • Family: Tautogoth

Tautogoth is a massive Bypaldian which is so powerful it can take on Elder Dragons like Teostra. It is in fact said to have a strong rivalry with this Elder Dragon.

Habitat Range[]

Tautogoth have been found inhabiting volcanic regions like the Old Volcano, Volcano (2nd), Volcano (3rd), Volcanic Hollow, Obsidian Caves, Smoldering Plains and the Desolate Field. More rarely it is found in desert regions like the Desert, Dunes, Cracked Canyon, Treacherous Sands and Ancient Outback.

Ecological Niche[]

Tautogoth are massive and powerful Bypaldians which have a carnivorous diet. Their size and strength allows them to have a wide range of prey while having very few predators, but still plenty of competitors. Small monsters which can fall prey to Tautogoth include the likes of Apceros, Cephalos, Bullfango, Wroggi and Uroktor. Larger monsters like Yian Kut-Ku, Daimyo Hermitaur, Great Wroggi, Basarios, Volvidon and Barroth can fall prey to this giant Bypaldian. When the Bypaldian is truly hungry it might try taking down dangerous monsters like Agnaktor, Rathalos and Glavenus.

Despite their size and power, Tautogoth still have to compete with equally powerful monsters. These can includes the likes of the earlier mentioned Agnaktor, Rathalos and Glavenus in volcanic regions, but also monsters like Midogaron, Voljang and Gravios. In desert regions they have to compete with powerful monsters like Akura Vashimu, Kuarusepusu and Diablos. Tautogoth also has to compete with powerful Deviants and Elder Dragons in these regions, but generally these monsters will stay away from each other.

One exception seems to be the Elder Dragon, Teostra. There have been multiple occasions reported of these two in a fierce battle. This has caused the rise of the theory that these two have a fierce rivalry.

Biological Adaptations[]

Tautogoth are powerful and massive Bypaldians which have developed a tough skin to protect them from their harsh habitats. Their size allows them to rip large rocks out of the ground to throw at opponents and despite their large size, they're still capable of charging at impressive speeds. They have also developed a way to use an obsidian-like material on their body which makes those areas even more protected. These structures are also hot enough to cause burns to other monsters or hunters. The braces on their arms are also capable of releasing a special powder which will quickly explode after it releases the brace. They are capable of creating this powder by breaking down explosive rocks with their spit. This spit can also weaken the armors of hunters.

Behavior[]

Tautogoth are extremely aggressive Bypaldians which will attack almost anything on sight. It's uncertain why they carry the massive boulder-like structure on their back, but it's theorized they will carve out new structures out of them for their body when the previous ones have broken down too much.
