The Smoldering Plains is a harsh and dried savannah, home to monsters with a hot temper. This area is located right next to a large lake of lava, perfect for Lavasioth to hide. The skies are filled with smoke, ash, and Rathalos, ready to strike. The few large, dead trees around make a resting place for Niramat, after a day of tending to their expansive graveyards. This place is not for the faint of heart. The Smoldering Plains makes its debut in Monster Hunter: Wyvern Instincts.

Areas[]
Area 1[]
This area is simply a grassy area with a single tree, though all of these plants are dried. Small monsters like Wroggi gather here. it is one of the two areas that does not require a cold drink.
Areas 2/3[]
Areas filled with dead grass and a lake of lava in the middle of them. There is a cave connecting this lake to the larger one up north for Lavasioth.
Areas 4/5/6[]
These areas are right next to the large lava lake. Caution is advised when moving to the Felyne's island from area 4. These areas also have less grass than others, but more trees spread around.
Area 7[]
This area resembles a large crater. It is used as a resting spot for wyverns.
Area 8[]
A slightly rocky area with a couple of trees. It has ledges to climb around on, and the center ledge can jump down to area 7.
Area 9[]
This area connects to a cave. Slagtoth like to hang around here, though rarely.
Area 10[]
This area is a small cave that is used for a raptor nest. This is one of two areas that does not require a cold drink.
Area 11[]
A small island in the lava lake. It is inhabited by Felynes, though they could have picked a safer spot.
