The Gaboon is a Lynian that first appears in the fan - made Monster Hunter Z

Gaboons have a monkey - like body structure; arms that are suited for grasping branches, a slender body, strong and flexible muscles, and a long tail. They have light - brown coloured fur all over their bodies, and their tails have black stripes. They have long ears, a stout snout and a round nose.

Gaboon are very curious creatures - often following hunters around and fiddling with the items they have dropped (e.g Barrel Bombs). They will, however, flee if threatened. They are also very docile when there isn't anything interesting around them, often lazing about in the tree tops. When attacked, the Gaboon will climb up a tree as fast as they can, and throw fruits at the attacker. If a hunter climbs up the tree they are in, they will try to attack the hunter with their claws. They main diet is consisted of berries, fruits, flowers, leaves and insects. They are also known to protect hunters from Neopterons, such as Bnahabra that are attacking them by lunging at the insect - like creatures and eating them.

Gaboon live in high trees with lots of fruit. They are most common in the Great Forest and the Unknown Great Forest.
